Meeting held on the North Shore on April 8th from 4:00 PM to 5:30 at the St. Tammany EOC at 510 E. Boston Street in Covington. Dexter Accardo the Facility Director hosted our successful security meeting. Some of the speakers were Chief Felix Loicano of the Causeway PD, Louis Dabdoub a PSA from DHS, Will Hatcher of the FBI addressed the audience on current security concerns and the NOLA president of InfaGard spoke. Also Richard Palmisano the Chief of Covington PD spoke. (updated 4/14/08)
We held a joint InfraGard meeting with the US DOJ Anti-Terrorism Advisory Council on 23 Jan. 2008 at the Port of New Orleans Auditorium. The meeting lasted about 2.5 hours and we had 3 great speakers. U.S. State Department representative William T. Poe spoke about controlled and uncontrolled fires and explosives. Tara McLeese of the US SS spoke about problems of identity theft and transfer of funds. Zeke Grimes of the US Department of State spoke about passports and immigration problems.
General Meeting was held on Nov. 29th meeting at main UN. of N.O. lakefront campus in the Liberal Arts Building in Room 236. DEA agent Mark Kiger spoke about marijuana laws in various states. Bob Williams of the City of New Orleans spoke about a updated partnership with InfraGard on networking and sharing of critical information thru InfraGard channels and he was joined in the discussion by Steve Wilson and Will Santos of LA GOSEP. Will Hatcher spoke on reporting incidents.
General Meeting held on Aug 30, 07 at the Univ. of N.O. for 2 hours. Commander Thomas Miller of the New Orleans OEP Auxiliary spoke about Communications to be used in an emergency. Senior Special Agent Alan Drumm spoke about US Homeland Security and his functions within ICE. Members voted in favor of "yearly $30 dues." The dues are on a voluntary basis.
General Meeting held May 30, 2007 at UNO Jefferson campus for 2 hours. Tim Thomasson of NOLA spoke about hurricane re-entry methods/placards and the TEWG plans that involves InfraGard participation. David Hunter a P.S.A covered several Security Issues including non-classified HSIN information and the Fusion center that will operate in Baton Rouge. Will Hatcher spoke about current security issues and the role of Infragard.
General Meeting Held March 8, 2007 We had a special 2 hour TV presentation on the 'Maritime Industry' which is a large portion of the Transportation Critical Infrastructure. We had excellent presentations by Jeff Simmerman of ERM, Shell Oil Manager Robert Ream, and US Coast Guard Speakers that included James Nolan and Roy Ford.
General Meeting Held January 11, 2007 at University of New Orleans (UNO) Liberal Arts Bldg Room. We had FBI Bomb Technicians and WMD Coordinators speaking. Also a regular chapter meeting was held, and the elections were also discussed.
