Our second meeting for 2010 will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday May 26th and it will be hosted at the Virginia Commonwealth University.
Our Speaker is Supervisory Special Agent Peter J. Lapp. SA Lapp is the Acting Unit Chief in the FBI’s Counterespionage Section (CD-4E Economic Espionage Unit).

Since the passage of the Economic Espionage Act of 1996 (EEA), the FBI has used Title 18 USC §1831 Economic Espionage and §1832 Theft of trade secrets to address the misappropriation of private industry's trade secrets from both foreign adversaries and trusted insiders.
The briefing will cover an overview of the EEA, company strategic plans for reacting to an allegation of a theft, recommended reasonable steps that companies (as required by the EEA) need to be taking to protect their trade secrets, as well as some discussion of recent relevant prosecutions under the EEA.

The meeting will be held in Room B3114 at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Engineering and Business School building, Snead Hall. The building is located at the intersection of Main St and Belvedere, just before you get to Cary St. It is located on the East side of Belvedere. The address is 301 W. Main St, Richmond, VA 23284. There are parking garages near the building, if you are unable to find parking on the street.
